Iced lychee earl grey tea & Yuzu mint soda at Grub ($5++ each)!
Two refreshing drinks at Grub (the park cafe): an iced lychee earl grey tea and a yuzu mint soda. $5++ each.
A breezy afternoon at Grub, the “dining in the park” cafe, with two refreshing drinks: an iced lychee earl grey tea and a yuzu mint soda, $5++ each. 😋
What we had ($10++, around $11.70 nett):
- Iced lychee earl grey tea: amber and fragrant, over plenty of ice
- Yuzu mint soda: pale and fizzy, with fresh mint leaves
The lychee earl grey was the one I kept reaching for. An earl grey base brings that distinctive bergamot perfume, and the lychee rounds it out with a soft, floral sweetness, so it tastes like a grown-up iced tea rather than a sugary one. Cold and aromatic, it is exactly right for a warm day out.
The yuzu mint soda was the zippier, more thirst-quenching option. Yuzu is that aromatic Japanese citrus, tart and floral all at once, and paired with fresh mint and fizzy soda it comes out clean, bright and cooling, the kind of drink that genuinely refreshes rather than just sweetens.
Sitting at a cafe with greenery around and these two chilled glasses on the table was a lovely, low-key way to spend the afternoon. Both drinks were well made and not overly sweet, which I always appreciate.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A fragrant lychee earl grey and a zingy yuzu mint soda, both refreshing and not too sweet. Would re-order.
