What we had:
- Ondeh ondeh soft serve: pandan-green swirl with gula melaka and toasted coconut
- Apple crumble soft serve: with cinnamon-oat crumble layered through
The ondeh ondeh was the one I loved. It captures the kueh it is named after: a fragrant pandan soft serve running with gula melaka (palm sugar), so you get those little molten-caramel hits, all finished with a generous shower of toasted coconut for a nutty, fragrant crunch. Creamy, local and nostalgic in the best way.
The apple crumble was the cosy, Western counterpart: a milky vanilla-apple swirl dotted with buttery crumble and a dusting of cinnamon, tasting like a warm dessert turned cold. Spooning down through the cup, you keep finding more of those crunchy oat bits.
Two very different scoops, one rooted in local flavour and one in classic comfort, both done smooth and generous. At $4.50 for both on the deal, it was a steal for specialty soft serve.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Fragrant gula melaka ondeh ondeh and a cosy apple crumble, lovely value on the 1-for-1. Would re-order.
