A cheap, cheerful afternoon snack from Triplets: a plain waffle, $1.40. π§π
What I had:
- A freshly pressed plain waffle, folded warm
Sometimes the simplest snack is the best, and a hot, fresh waffle for under a dollar fifty is hard to beat. This one was pressed to order, so it came out golden and toasty, with crisp, slightly caramelised edges and a soft, fluffy middle. You could see the steam coming off it.
Even as a plain one, it was lovely: just a thin smear of butter and a little sugar inside, melting into the warm waffle so you get that gentle sweetness without it being over the top. Folded over and handed across in a paper sleeve, it is the perfect grab-and-go bite, crunchy at the edges, pillowy in the centre, and gone in a few happy mouthfuls.
There is something nostalgic about a hawker-style waffle like this, a world away from the fancy $15 cafe versions. At $1.40 it is the kind of simple, everyday treat that just makes you smile, and a reminder that cheap snacks can still be really good.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. πππΌ A hot, crisp, freshly pressed plain waffle, simple and lovely value at $1.40. Would re-order.
