Sunday brunch, fishball noodle style: a bowl of dry mee pok each at $4.50. ๐
What we had ($9 total):
- Two bowls of fishball mee pok, dry: flat egg noodles in dark sauce topped with white fishballs, fishcake, a stuffed fishball, a fried fishball and beancurd skin, with clear soup on the side
This was the fishball-forward style of dry mee pok, less about minced pork and more about the bouncy fish bits. The flat mee pok noodles came tossed in a dark, savoury sauce with a hint of chilli, springy and well coated, with a scatter of fried shallots for fragrance.
The toppings were all about texture: smooth white fishballs with that springy snap, slices of fishcake, a stuffed fishball with a meaty centre, a golden fried fishball, and a piece of soft beancurd skin roll. A clean soup on the side, holding more of the fishballs, gives you something to sip between mouthfuls.
Toss it all so the noodles drink up the sauce and it eats really well, savoury, a bit tangy, with all those different fishball textures to work through. A reliable, satisfying bowl at $4.50.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Springy mee pok in dark sauce with a generous mix of bouncy fishballs. Would re-order.
