Korean mid-week dinner!
A Korean dinner spread: a bulgogi hot pot, almond-flake fried chicken, a rolled omelette and a seafood pancake.
A Korean dinner with BB to get over the mid-week hump. ๐ฐ๐ท๐
What we had:
- Bulgogi hot pot: sliced beef with leek, rice cakes and mushroom in broth
- Almond fried chicken: dakgangjeong tossed with sliced almonds
- Rolled omelette (gyeran-mari) with a sauce drizzle
- Seafood pancake (haemul pajeon) with a dipping sauce
This was a proper little Korean feast. The bulgogi hot pot bubbled away on the table, sweet-savoury marinated beef with leek, chewy rice cakes (tteok) and mushrooms simmering in the broth, comforting and warming as it cooked down.
The almond fried chicken was the one we kept reaching for: crunchy fried chicken in a sweet-spicy glaze, scattered with toasted almond flakes for an extra nutty crunch. The rolled omelette was the soft, mild side, fluffy layers of egg with a savoury drizzle, while the seafood pancake brought a crisp, savoury edge, studded with squid and prawn and made for dunking in its tangy soy dip.
Sweet, spicy, crispy and savoury all on one table, with the hot pot tying it together. A fun, generous spread that made an ordinary Wednesday feel like an occasion.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A warming bulgogi hot pot with crunchy almond fried chicken and a crisp seafood pancake. Would re-visit.
