Seafood hor fun ($5) & Salted egg pork ribs with egg ($7.50)!

A Good Friday hawker dinner with BB, sharing a noodle and a dish: seafood hor fun ($5) and salted egg pork ribs with egg ($7.50). ๐Ÿ˜‹

What we had ($12.50 total):

The hawker move is to grab a noodle from one stall and a dish from the tze char stall and split both, and it works every time. The seafood hor fun was the comforting noodle half: wide, slippery hor fun in a smooth, dark, lightly thickened gravy with egg run through it, topped with sweet prawns, tender squid, fishcake and a few stalks of greens.

The salted egg pork ribs were the indulgent half, and the star. Crispy fried ribs tossed in that golden, grainy salted egg sauce, rich and savoury with the fragrance of curry leaves and a little chilli heat. The clever bit is the fried egg on top of the rice: break the runny yolk and mix it through, and the whole plate turns extra rich and creamy.

Two very different textures, one saucy and seafood-y, one crispy and decadent, for $12.50 between us. Great hawker value.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Silky seafood hor fun and rich, curry-leaf-fragrant salted egg pork ribs with a runny egg. Would re-order.
