What the set came with:
- Beef pho: sliced beef and beef balls in a clear broth with rice noodles
- A side plate of beansprouts, lime and chilli to add as you like
- Iced tea
Pho lives or dies on its broth, and this one was the real deal. A clear, light beef broth that has clearly been simmered for hours with bones and aromatics, savoury and warming without being heavy. There were tender slices of beef that just-cooked in the hot soup, plus springy beef balls for a bit of bounce.
Half the fun is building your own bowl: pile in the beansprouts for crunch, squeeze over the lime for brightness, and add chilli for heat until it tastes the way you want. Slipping the rice noodles up out of that fragrant broth is exactly the comfort you want on a working day.
As a set lunch with a drink it felt like good value, a proper sit-down bowl rather than a rushed takeaway.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A clean, savoury beef pho with tender beef and springy beef balls, a comforting set lunch. Would re-order.
