Mitzo (Grand Park Orchard): a Cantonese dinner!
Dinner at Mitzo, the modern Cantonese restaurant and bar at Grand Park Orchard: double-boiled cordyceps-flower soup, steamed chicken, baked lobster, wanton mee sua and a chilled osmanthus jelly dessert.
A lovely Cantonese dinner at Mitzo, the modern Cantonese restaurant and bar at Grand Park Orchard. π A proper treat of a meal.
What we had:
- A double-boiled soup with cordyceps flower, the kind of clear, nourishing Cantonese tonic soup slow-cooked for hours.
- Steamed chicken with vegetables and mushrooms, delicate and clean.
- A baked lobster topped with a savoury preserved-vegetable and crispy garnish, the showstopper.
- Wanton mee sua, plump wantons and fine noodles in a clear broth with broccoli.
- A steamed egg tart and a chilled osmanthus jelly with longan, the light, fragrant desserts to finish.
Mitzo does refined, contemporary takes on Cantonese classics, and the spread showed off that range, from a soulful double-boiled soup to the indulgent baked lobster, its sweet flesh under a savoury, umami-rich topping. The steamed chicken kept things light and clean, and the wanton mee sua was a comforting touch. The desserts were beautifully delicate: a wobbly steamed egg tart and a refreshing osmanthus jelly that cut through the richness of everything before it.
A polished, satisfying Cantonese meal in a stylish Orchard Road setting, the sort of dinner that feels like an occasion.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. πππΌ Refined Cantonese cooking, the baked lobster and double-boiled soup the highlights, with elegant desserts to close. Would re-visit.
