2nd round of brunch ($31.78)!
Thursday phase-2 brunch round two — $31.78 spread. The substantial second-round meal after the morning's light starter.
Thursday late-morning brunch with BB — 2nd round of brunch for $31.78. The substantial follow-up to the morning’s light first round.
We ordered (sharing spread):
- A main protein dish
- A second main / heavy carb
- Side dishes
- Drinks
Total: $31.78 for the spread.
The second round of a multi-round brunch day is where the real meal happens. The first round broke the morning fast at $7.38; the second round actually constitutes the day’s main meal. The pacing means you don’t eat the whole thing at once and you spread the satisfaction across the morning rather than peaking and crashing on one big plate.
The main protein dish was the centrepiece — a hot plate with grilled meat or fish, well-seasoned, properly cooked. The kind of plate that takes about 10-15 minutes from kitchen to table at a sit-down restaurant.
The second main / heavy carb was either a pasta, rice bowl, or noodle dish. Designed to be eaten alongside or after the protein dish, providing the substance that the lighter first round deliberately skipped.
Side dishes covered the missing components — vegetables, salad, maybe a small soup.
Drinks were the standard cafe options — espresso-based for me, tea or fresh juice for BB.
At $31.78 for the round-two spread, the total double-brunch day came to about $39 for two people across the morning. Same total as a single sit-down brunch at a higher-tier cafe, but spread across the morning instead of compressed into one sitting.
The double-brunch format is a lockdown-era discovery that we kept up into phase 2. Splitting the meal across the morning meant we ate more deliberately, paced energy better, and had two distinct meal moments rather than one rushed sit-down.
A small lockdown habit worth keeping.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Strong second round — double-brunch day complete.
