1-for-1 bubble tea at Playmade Westgate ($6.15)!

Thursday afternoon detour through Playmade Westgate with BB for a 1-for-1 bubble tea promo — $6.15 for two drinks. Phase 2 had reopened the malls and the bubble tea chains were running aggressive promos to pull foot traffic back.

We ordered (1-for-1 promo):

• Playmade brown sugar fresh milk pearl
• Playmade signature pearl milk tea

Total: $6.15 via the 1-for-1 deal.

Playmade is one of the better fresh-tea chains in Singapore. Their angle is the cook-from-scratch pearls — tapioca pearls boiled fresh in small batches throughout the day rather than the pre-cooked-and-soaked default that most chains use. The result is a noticeably chewier pearl with a fresher mouthfeel.

The brown sugar fresh milk pearl is the chain’s signature — fresh milk poured over brown-sugar-coated pearls, with the dark sugar streaming down the inside of the cup in those iconic tiger-stripe streaks. No tea base in this version, just milk + pearls + brown sugar. Indulgent, dessert-leaning.

The signature pearl milk tea was the comparison drink. Standard black tea base, milk, sugar, pearls. The Playmade version has noticeably better tea brew than the chain-average — proper black tea steeped strong, with the bitterness rounded out by the milk and sugar but still recognisable as tea.

Sweetness for both was at 50% (my default) — at Playmade this still tastes plenty sweet enough because the pearls themselves are brown-sugar-coated.

At $6.15 for two drinks via the 1-for-1, this is real value. Full price each would’ve been close to $5-6, so the promo saves ~50%.

The Westgate outlet is one of the busier Playmade locations because of the mall’s foot traffic. We hit it during the afternoon lull, which meant a 3-minute queue rather than the 15-minute weekend queue.

Phase 2 bubble tea is back. Aggressive promos are the bonus.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Excellent Playmade 1-for-1 — would absolutely chase promos.
