Happy mid week dinner ($19.80 with Burpple Beyond deal)!
Wednesday phase-2 mid-week dinner — first dine-in since lockdown, $19.80 via Burpple Beyond. The lockdown discount stack still pays off.
Wednesday mid-week dinner with BB — one of our first dine-in dinners since circuit breaker lifted in phase 2, and we pulled the Burpple Beyond deal for $19.80. Stretching the dinner budget with subscription discounts still pays off in 2020.
We ordered (Burpple Beyond set):
- A shared main
- A side
- Two drinks
Total: $19.80 via Burpple Beyond.
The first dine-in dinner felt strange after almost three months of home cooking and delivery. The restaurant had safe distancing markers on tables, reduced capacity, contact tracing QR codes at the entrance, and staff in masks throughout. The format of eating out had changed but the fundamentals were back — kitchen-fresh hot food, table service, the small ceremony of being served.
The shared main was the central component. Couldn’t tell you exactly what it was at this distance, but it was a hot protein-and-carb plate that the restaurant had been featuring on their Burpple Beyond set for the month. Whatever it was, it tasted appropriately satisfying after the long delivery-only stretch.
Side dish was a quick vegetable or salad. Two drinks rounded out the set — usually a soft drink and a tea or coffee.
The Burpple Beyond deal works the same way it always has — the subscription card costs an annual fee, then each redemption gets you 1-for-1 or set-meal pricing at participating restaurants. During lockdown a lot of subscribers paused or cancelled, but the ones who kept the subscription found the deal value at reopening was even stronger because restaurants needed the foot traffic.
$19.80 for two on a sit-down dinner is real value. Full price would’ve put us closer to $40.
First dine-in dinner felt small, but it felt like a step.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Strong return-to-dine-in Burpple deal — would re-use.
