High tea (Burpple Beyond: $27)!

Sunday afternoon high tea with BB — pulled the Burpple Beyond deal at $27. The kind of luxury format that we wouldn’t usually do, but the Burpple Beyond discount made it the right kind of weekend splurge.

We ordered (Burpple Beyond high tea set):

• Tiered high tea stand (scones, sandwiches, pastries)
• Tea / coffee selection

Total: $27 via Burpple Beyond.

High tea is the kind of meal format that was reserved for hotel lobbies and special occasions pre-pandemic. The Burpple Beyond era has made it more accessible by stacking the deal pricing onto the existing high-tea menus at participating venues.

The tiered stand arrived with the standard three-level architecture:

• Bottom tier: savoury sandwiches and finger foods (cucumber sandwiches, smoked salmon on rye, mini quiches)
• Middle tier: warm scones with clotted cream and jam (plain + raisin varieties)
• Top tier: sweet pastries (macarons, mini cakes, tarts, eclairs)

The savoury bottom tier was the substantial component. Sandwiches were small but neatly cut with the crusts removed, fillings generous, bread soft. Smoked salmon was the highlight there.

The scones were the centrepiece. Warm, slightly crumbly, with that signature buttery softness inside. The clotted cream and jam on the side completed the British high-tea experience — split the scone in half, layer cream, layer jam, eat in two bites.

Sweet pastries on top tier were the small variety — a couple of macarons, a fruit tart, a chocolate-leaning mini cake, an eclair. Each one a different small dessert.

Tea selection was the loose-leaf range — Earl Grey, English Breakfast, jasmine green, oolong. Refilled freely during the sitting.

$27 for the high tea is excellent Burpple Beyond pricing — full price would’ve been close to $50.

Phase 2 reopening had restored the option of doing this format again, and the card promos made it occasionally affordable.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Excellent Burpple Beyond high tea — would chase the promo again.
