Saturday's lunch!

Saturday phase-2 home lunch — rice, eggs, vegetables. Quiet weekend kitchen routine continuing into mid-August.

Saturday's lunch!

Saturday lunch at home with BB — quiet weekend kitchen routine. After the morning’s home brunch, the Saturday lunch is the small follow-up meal that keeps the weekend cooking gentle.

Today’s plate:

Saturday lunch sits in the weekend’s quietest meal slot. After the morning’s brunch and before the evening’s dinner, the lunch is the optional middle meal. Sometimes we skip it entirely; today we kept it light but proper.

Hot rice base was the standard fluffy jasmine.

Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side. Crispy white edges, runny golden yolk centred on the plate.

Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds with carrot strips, smashed garlic and a splash of soy.

Pan-seared protein was a small portion of pan-fried sausage rounds today — sliced Bratwurst, hit in its rendered fat.

Chilli sauce on the side as always.

We sat at the kitchen counter, drank water (no afternoon coffee on Saturday — we save that for Sunday), ate slow. The Saturday weekend energy is the most relaxed of the week. No work afternoon to return to, no Monday morning looming.

The home Saturday lunch had become the small middle-of-the-day meal that connects the morning’s brunch to the evening’s dinner. Nothing dramatic, nothing photogenic — just steady home cooking that keeps the weekend rhythm steady.

Phase 2 reopening had given us back the option of weekend lunch outings, but the home routine kept winning on the comfort math. Lockdown habits worth keeping post-reopening.

Overall: 4.3 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable Saturday lunch — keeping the routine.
