We ordered:
- King God Ramen — $18+
“King God” tier ramen is the chain’s premium signature bowl — the upgraded variant that bundles the chain’s best ingredients into a single signature presentation. Usually the King God or signature tier includes premium chashu (often multiple pieces or different cuts), extra toppings, and sometimes a special broth variant.
The broth profile depends on the chain — could be a premium tonkotsu (long-simmered pork bone broth), a special shoyu blend, or a unique signature broth. Most King God-style bowls go for the rich, concentrated, satisfying broth experience that justifies the premium tier price.
The chashu was the substantial protein. Likely multiple slices of slow-braised pork belly (or a combination of pork belly + pork shoulder + pork loin), with the proper fall-apart-tender texture and the dark glossy braising sauce coating each slice.
The egg was probably the ajitsuke tamago (soft-boiled marinated soy egg) — soaked in shoyu-mirin-dashi, with the white absorbing the salty-sweet flavour and the yolk staying runny. Halved with the yolk visible.
Standard ramen architecture on top — menma (bamboo shoots), chopped scallion, possibly nori, and any premium toppings the King God tier includes (could be additional vegetables, garlic chips, sesame seeds, or a chilli oil drizzle).
The noodles were the standard medium-thick wavy alkaline kind that most ramen bowls use. Cooked to firmness, with the proper QQ chew.
At $18+ for the King God tier ramen this is fair premium ramen pricing. Standard ramen bowls run $12-15; the King God / signature tier usually adds $3-5 for the upgrades.
The Wednesday late dinner Japanese rotation had been steady through phase 2. Premium ramen bowls had been one of the categories we’d cycled through occasionally, with the Burpple Beyond and 1-for-1 promos making the format accessible.
Phase 2 had restored the premium ramen scene to full operation. The $18+ tier sits at the upper-mid pricing for Japanese ramen chains, accessible for the occasional Wednesday dinner without breaking the budget.
Overall: 4.1 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Solid King God Ramen — would consider for a return.
