Milk green tea + pearl ($4.50)!
Bubble tea Friday — milk green tea with tapioca pearls $4.50. The cleaner-tasting alternative to the standard black-tea pearl milk.
Friday afternoon bubble tea pickup with BB — went with milk green tea + tapioca pearls for $4.50. The green tea base is the underrated cousin of the standard pearl milk tea, and the cleaner finish suits hotter afternoons better.

- Milk green tea with tapioca pearls — $4.50
Milk green tea is the formula swap — the black tea base of standard pearl milk tea gets replaced with green tea, while everything else (milk, sweetener, ice, pearls) stays the same. The result is a lighter, more vegetal drink that pairs differently with the dairy.
Green tea base was the proper brewed kind — slightly grassy, faintly bitter, with that pale-jade colour through the milk. Most chains use a roasted-green or jasmine-green variant rather than straight sencha, which gives the drink a softer finish without losing the green tea identity.
The tapioca pearls were the standard QQ-chewy version. Properly cooked — bouncy without being chalky, not over-soaked from sitting too long in syrup. Brown sugar coating on each pearl as usual.
The milk-to-tea ratio leaned slightly toward milk on this particular drink, which softened the green tea’s grassy edge and made the whole drink feel creamier. Sweetness at 50% (the default I always ask for) kept it drinkable without going dessert-heavy.
At $4.50 this is standard chain bubble tea pricing — pearls included. Some chains charge extra for the pearls; we always go to the ones that include them.
Bubble tea has so many variations now that ordering becomes a personality test. Milk green tea + pearls is the order I default to when I want bubble tea but not a sugar-coma dessert drink. Brown sugar pearl drinks are the indulgent option; this is the everyday version.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable milk green tea pearl drink — would re-order.
