Rainy Monday's lunch!
Rainy Monday phase-2 home lunch — hot rice, eggs, vegetables. Downpour-window cooking comfort.
Monday rainy day lunch at home with BB — proper monsoon downpour outside, kitchen counter as the comfort zone.
Today’s plate:
- Hot rice base
- Fried egg (sunny-side)
- Stir-fried vegetables
- Pan-seared protein
- Chilli sauce on the side
The rainy day home cooking rhythm — kitchen window steams up, ambient temperature in the apartment ticks up two degrees from the cumulative cooking heat, rain outside provides the white-noise backdrop.
Hot rice base was the standard fluffy jasmine.
Fried egg was the M-style sunny-side. Crispy white edges, runny golden yolk.
Stir-fried vegetables today were cabbage shreds with carrot strips, smashed garlic and a splash of soy.
Pan-seared protein was a small portion of pan-fried sausage rounds — sliced Bratwurst, hit in its rendered fat.
Chilli sauce on the side as always.
The rainy day rhythm felt different — slower eating, hot tea instead of cold water, longer at the kitchen table. Downpour outside makes indoors feel cosier.
Phase 2 had restored the option of going out for Monday lunch but rainy days remained firmly home days. Some lockdown habits earn their permanence — the home rainy day lunch sits firmly on the keeper list.
Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Quiet rainy Monday lunch — keeping the routine.
