Saturday's brunch ($46.84)!

Saturday brunch with BB — $46.84 sit-down restaurant spread. Mid-tier weekend dine-in at the sweet-spot pricing point that we’d settled into as the post-circuit-breaker sustainable rate.

We ordered (Saturday brunch):

Total: $46.84 for the spread.

The $46.84 brunch sits at the sweet spot of sit-down restaurant pricing. Roughly $23 per person, which lands in the same range as most mid-tier weekend brunches in 2020 Singapore.

Mains were classic brunch plates. Each came as a complete protein-and-egg-and-carb combination — likely an eggs benedict, a breakfast bowl, or a savoury pancake plate. The kind of mains that justify mid-tier pricing because they’re substantial and well-executed.

Shared side was a small portion of vegetables or salad. The greens-and-fresh component against the protein-egg-carb heaviness of the mains.

Drinks were the standard specialty cafe options. A specialty coffee for me, a fresh juice or smoothie for BB.

The Saturday sit-down brunch had become the occasional treat in the rotation, alongside the home weekend brunches that anchored most weekends. The split: home brunches as the default, restaurant brunches as the planned variety break.

At $46.84 for two on a Saturday sit-down brunch this is the sustainable post-circuit-breaker pricing. We’d cycled through the higher-tier $80-150 brunches earlier in the year and recalibrated downward.

Phase 2 reopening had its sustainable rhythm by September. The split between home meals and restaurant outings had stabilised. Saturday brunch out was the small weekend treat that broke up the routine without becoming an indulgence.

Some lockdown habits earn their permanence; some habits earn their occasional break. The restaurant Saturday brunch is the second category.

Overall: 4.3 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable Saturday brunch at the right pricing — would repeat.
