What was on the table:

The Jalan Besar cafe belt (Tyrwhitt Road, Hamilton Road, King George’s Avenue) became one of Singapore’s densest dessert-cafe clusters through the late 2010s: Chye Seng Huat Hardware kicked off the area’s coffee cred, then the gelato-waffle places filled in around it. Most run the same playbook: house-churned gelato, made-to-order buttermilk waffles, $10-$15 per waffle-plus-scoop.
The waffle here is the proper cafe spec: batter rested so the crumb stays tender, cooked dark enough that the crust crackles, served within minutes so the ice cream melts into the grid pockets rather than a soggy base. Icing sugar dusting on top, chocolate drizzle on the plate.
The scoops: the chocolate-chip had real shaved chocolate through a vanilla base rather than factory chips, the strawberry tasted of actual fruit with seeds visible. House-churned texture, denser than supermarket tubs.
At $11 via Burpple Beyond for two waffle-and-scoop plates, this is strong dessert value. Standalone the same order runs $18-$22 at the Jalan Besar cafes.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Lovely waffle stop. The chocolate-chip gelato was the standout scoop. Would re-book through BB.
