Grain bento ($5) — round two!
Grain promo bento round two during circuit breaker — $5 delivered lunch box. The lockdown rotation default that kept us going.
Thursday circuit breaker lunch — back on the Grain $5 promo bento again, day two in a row. When delivery is your only option and one of the best-value lunch boxes is at five dollars, you start building it into the weekday rotation.
We ordered:
- Grain promo bento — $5
Different mix this round — the bentos rotate menu items so you don’t get stuck eating the same thing every day. Today’s pull was a grilled chicken with a different glaze (more lemon-herb-leaning than yesterday’s soy-honey), brown rice base, a small portion of roasted veg, and a citrus-y vinaigrette in the sauce ramekin.
Chicken was the same quality as the previous order — tender thigh, properly cooked, the kind that doesn’t need salvaging with extra sauce. The rotation across the lemon-herb and the soy-honey glazes is a small touch but it kept the bentos from feeling repetitive even when we ordered them back-to-back.
Roasted vegetables varied — today’s pull included some grilled corn kernels and zucchini ribbons alongside the carrot and sweet potato. Greens were a different mix too.
The takeaway box is the same recyclable kraft-paper container with the segmented compartments, fork and spoon, and the small dressing ramekin. Grain’s packaging game during the lockdown era was one of the better thought-out ones.
Five dollars at home in your kitchen is a real value play during a period when most options were closed.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Reliable delivery default — building it into the lunch rotation.
