King of Fried Rice — Pork cutlet + XO fried rice takeaway ($6.50 + $5.50)!
King of Fried Rice double takeaway with BB — pork cutlet egg fried rice ($6.50) and XO fried rice ($5.50).
Sunday takeaway with BB — went back to King of Fried Rice for the pork cutlet + a new try: XO fried rice. $12 total. 😋
What was in the boxes ($6.50 + $5.50):
- Pork cutlet egg fried rice ($6.50) — golden egg fried rice topped with thick slices of grilled pork cutlet with that signature black-pepper-seasoned charred edges and rosy centre.
- XO fried rice ($5.50) — fragrant egg fried rice tossed with bits of XO sauce (the iconic Cantonese sauce of dried scallops, dried prawns and chilli), distributed throughout with chopped scallions.
The pork cutlet box was my comfort pick (already a regular). The XO version was the surprise — small bits of dried scallop give that distinctive umami flavour without needing extra protein.
Total: $12 for two boxes.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Both held up well as takeaway — fried rice wasn’t soggy or oily. Pork cutlet stayed juicy. XO version had real XO depth, not just sauce. Reliable double order. 😍👍🏼
