Rainy Monday curry chicken noodles ($6)!
Rainy Monday hawker lunch — curry chicken noodles with bee hoon, chicken pieces, fried tau pok, fish cake and potato in spicy coconut curry broth. $6.
Rainy Monday lunch — went for curry chicken noodles at a hawker stall. $6. Warm spice = monsoon weather best friend. 😋
What was in the bowl ($6):
- A nest of rice vermicelli (bee hoon) sitting in a thick orange-red curry broth — coconut-rich, properly spiced, glossy oil pool on top.
- Big pieces of chicken thigh with the skin on — tender, soaked through with curry.
- Slices of fried tau pok (beancurd puffs) — soaked up the curry like sponges.
- Pieces of fish cake and a chunk of soft potato for the carbs and bite.
The curry was the highlight — coconut milk fragrance came through without being cloying, and the chili gave it a slow-building warmth.
Total: $6. Hawker-priced bowl of monsoon comfort.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. The chicken was tender and the tau pok absorbed the curry beautifully — those are the bites I went back for. Right meal for a rainy Monday. 😍👍🏼
