Saturday's Korean brunch with BB!
Saturday Korean brunch with BB — jajangmyeon, sweet and sour chicken with lotus chips, seafood pancake, kimchi banchan and complementary boiled eggs.
Korean brunch day with BB — went hard with four plates at a Korean restaurant. 😋
What was on the table:
- Jajangmyeon (짜장면) — thick wheat noodles topped with glossy black bean sauce (chunjang) loaded with pork and vegetables, finished with fresh julienned cucumber for the cool contrast. Tossed it together at the table — every strand coated dark and savoury.
- Sweet and sour chicken (tangsuyuk-style) with lotus root chips — crispy battered chicken pieces with fried lotus root slices scattered through. A pyrex jug of sweet sour sauce on the side to pour or dip.
- Haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) — golden pan-fried scallion pancake with squid, prawns, red chilli mixed into the batter. Crispy edges, soft chewy centre, with the soy-vinegar dip on the side.
- A spread of banchan — fresh kimchi, spicy radish strips, pickled yellow daikon, and a small bowl of warm boiled eggs on the side (the Korean way).
The seafood pancake was the standout — crispy outside, packed with seafood inside. Jajangmyeon hit the comfort spot.
Total: full Korean brunch spread, restaurant pricing.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Solid Korean brunch — banchan was generous, seafood pancake was on point, and the boiled egg detail was a sweet touch. Will come back for more pajeon. 😍👍🏼
