Braised minced pork ramen + Tiger prawn Hokkien mee ($9 + $7)!
Modern hawker fusion — braised minced pork ramen with onsen egg and dumpling ($9) and tiger prawn Hokkien mee ($7). Two-plate share.
Hawker fusion lunch — went heavy with two upgraded plates: braised minced pork ramen + tiger prawn Hokkien mee. 😋
What was on the table ($16 total):
- Braised minced pork ramen ($9) in a black bowl — chewy ramen noodles topped with a generous mound of braised minced pork (rou zao) with chopped scallions, a soft onsen egg dusted with togarashi and white sesame, a wonton-style dumpling on the side, and a small pile of tempura crispies (agedama) and a marinated bamboo strip.
- Tiger prawn Hokkien mee ($7) on the white plate — white bee hoon mixed with yellow mee in concentrated prawn stock, topped with two huge tiger prawns (heads on), with a calamansi for squeezing and a spoonful of dark sambal chilli on the side.
The ramen was the unexpected hit — that braised minced pork has all the umami without going salty. Tiger prawns on the Hokkien mee were properly fresh.
Total: $16 for two plates.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Modern hawker stall doing two completely different styles well. The braised minced pork ramen was the standout — proper Taiwan rou zao mian vibes meets Japanese ramen presentation. 😍👍🏼
