Sunday brunch at Eat 3 Bowls (Lavender)!
The signature 3-bowl set at Eat 3 Bowls (Crawford Lane / Lavender) — braised pork rice, chicken rice, oyster mee sua, plus bubble tea. $35.95 for two.
Sunday brunch and we kept hearing about Eat 3 Bowls (呷三碗) at Crawford Lane — finally went. The Taiwanese cafe from the Singaporean-Taiwanese couple who started out at Seah Im Food Centre. 🍜😋
We both went for the 3-bowl set (the whole point of the name):
- Lu rou fan (滷肉飯) — chopped braised pork belly in glossy dark soy gravy, scattered with scallions, spooned over fluffy rice. Salty-sweet-fragrant. Tasted like Taipei.
- Chicken rice (雞肉飯) — Taiwanese-style hand-shredded poached chicken on rice with a drizzle of chicken oil. Light, tender, properly chickeny.
- Oyster intestine mee sua (蚵仔大腸麵線) — thin mee sua noodles in a thickened broth with plump oysters and tender intestine, lots of coriander on top.
Plus a couple of glasses of bubble tea on the side — a milky brown sugar one and a fruity peach iced tea.
Total: $35.95 for the two of us. For 6 bowls + 2 drinks, very fair.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. Properly legit Taiwanese — the lu rou fan and mee sua are the standouts. We’ll be back. 😍👍🏼
