TGIF Chinese BBQ skewers at Bugis!
A loaded platter of grilled skewers — lamb, beef, pork belly and sausages dusted in cumin and chilli — at a Chinese BBQ joint near Bugis. Perfect TGIF dinner.
It’s Friday and the cravings called for one thing only — chuan’r (串儿). Hunted down a Chinese BBQ skewer joint near Bugis Street and went in deep. 🔥😋
What landed on the grill rack:
- Lamb skewers — coated in fragrant cumin and dried chilli flakes, the classic Xinjiang treatment. Charred edges, juicy middle.
- Beef skewers — leaner, slightly chewier, with that same cumin-chilli magic.
- Pork belly skewers — thin strips folded onto sticks, crisped up over the flame until the fat caramelised. Dangerous.
- Lap cheong sausage — sweet, smoky little discs that fall off the stick. Always orders itself.
- A pile of charred corn for good measure.
Side dishes of pickled greens and chilli paste to cool things down between bites. We just kept going.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Loud, smoky, beer-pairing perfect. Exactly what TGIF demands. 😍👍🏼
