Sunday dim sum brunch — all the bamboo baskets!
Sunday yum cha brunch at a dim sum restaurant — har gow, siu mai, xiao long bao, custard mantou, spinach dumplings, beancurd skin rolls, chee cheong fun and more across the table.
Sunday yum cha brunch — went all in on the dim sum trolley. Ordered a small army of bamboo steamers and emptied them all. 😋
What we ordered (small group, big table):
- Har gow (crystal prawn dumplings) — translucent skin, plump pink prawn inside.
- Siu mai — pork and prawn, orange crab roe garnish.
- Xiao long bao — pleated tops, hot soup waiting inside.
- Spinach dumplings — pretty green-edged, prawn filling.
- Custard salted egg yolk mantou (奶黄包) — pillowy white buns with that signature golden molten centre.
- Beancurd skin rolls (腐皮卷) — crispy on the outside, prawn filling, served on lace doilies.
- Cheong fun (rice noodle rolls) — silky rice rolls in sweet soy sauce.
- XO chilli sauce dish on the side — for dipping everything.
Steam, lift the lid, see the cloud rise, eat. Repeat. The custard mantou were the surprise hit — that hot salted egg yolk lava is dangerous.
Total: yum cha pricing, didn’t track but worth every dollar.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Solid Sunday dim sum — har gow had bite, custard mantou was molten, and we left way too full to walk straight. Will plan the next yum cha session soon. 😍👍🏼
