First attempt at PlayMade by 丸作! 😋

PlayMade (丸作) is a Taiwanese bubble tea brand whose signature is handmade, made-fresh pearls, including the novelty flavoured and coloured pearls (the cactus, sweet potato and starry pearls) that set it apart from the standard tapioca-pearl chains. Fresh pearls, made in small batches through the day, are the whole pitch.

We ordered from the seasonal menu:

Chrysanthemum milk tea with pink cactus pearls ($3.70), the floral chrysanthemum tea with milk, paired with the novelty pink cactus-flavoured pearls, the photogenic, lightly fruity pearl.

Purple sweet potato milk tea with purple sweet potato pearls ($4.20), the earthy-sweet sweet-potato flavour doubled, in both the milk tea and the handmade purple pearls.

Both drinks are nice, though we prefer the chrysanthemum one, the floral tea was the more refreshing of the two, and the fresh, chewy handmade pearls in both lived up to the brand’s reputation. Haha.

Overall: 4.2 / 5. 😋👍🏼 The fresh handmade pearls are the draw, and the chrysanthemum milk tea was the pick. Would re-order.
