Cappuccino; Hot chocolate; Macarons — Passionfruit, Black fruits, Pistachio, Raspberry (€15)!
Saturday Europe — cappuccino + hot chocolate + 4 macarons €15. French patisserie experience.
A patisserie afternoon with BB on our Europe trip: cappuccino + hot chocolate + 4 macarons (passionfruit, black fruits, pistachio, raspberry), €15. ☕😋
There’s something special about having French macarons at the source. These are the proper article: two delicate almond-meringue shells with the tell-tale ruffled “feet”, sandwiching a smooth ganache or buttercream filling. The texture is the whole point, a crisp shell that gives way to a soft, slightly chewy interior and a creamy centre, nothing like a crunchy cookie.
The four flavours covered a lovely spread:
- Passionfruit: tart and tropical, the zingy one.
- Black fruits: deep and jammy (blackberry/blackcurrant).
- Pistachio: nutty and mellow, the classic.
- Raspberry: bright sweet-tart red fruit.
To go with them, a cappuccino and a hot chocolate, the coffee’s slight bitterness and the rich European drinking chocolate both perfect foils for the sweet, delicate macarons. At €15 (around SGD$23) for the whole spread, it felt like good value for patisserie of this quality, the kind you’d pay a premium for back home.
A simple, happy little afternoon, exactly the sort of slow cafe moment you travel for.
Overall: 4.8 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Delicate, proper French macarons across four lovely flavours, with coffee and hot chocolate to match. A treat at the source.
