Shrimps phad thai (CHF 20.50)!

A welcome taste of Asia midway through the Europe trip: shrimp pad thai, CHF 20.50 (around SGD$28), at a Thai restaurant in Switzerland. 😋

What I had:

After days of Swiss and European food, a plate of pad thai was exactly the palate reset I was craving. The flat rice noodles had that classic sweet-savoury-tangy glaze from tamarind, palm sugar and fish sauce, with scrambled egg woven through and prawns for the protein. A pile of fresh beansprouts on top kept it crunchy, and the crushed peanuts added a nutty bite.

The ritual is half the fun: squeeze the lime over, toss everything together, and it brightens right up. It tasted properly done, genuinely Thai rather than watered down, which says something about how far the cuisine travels.

The only Swiss thing about it was the bill. At CHF 20.50 it cost roughly triple what the same plate runs back home, but as a comforting, familiar lunch in the middle of a long trip, it was worth every franc.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A proper sweet-tangy shrimp pad thai, a comforting Asian break mid-trip. Would re-order.
