Marché for lunch (CHF 25.40)!
A market-style lunch at Marché in Switzerland: rotisserie chicken and sausage with potato wedges, plus risotto and vegetables. CHF 25.40.
A hearty lunch on the Switzerland leg of the trip with BB at Marché, the market-style restaurant where you order fresh from different stations: CHF 25.40 (around SGD$35). 😋
What we had:
- Rotisserie chicken and a grilled sausage with roasted potato wedges and carrots
- A plate of risotto, sautéed bok choy, carrots and chunky fries
The fun of Marché is that you walk around the stations and build your own plate from whatever looks good, so it feels fresh and made-to-order rather than canteen-style. The rotisserie chicken was the highlight, juicy with nicely browned skin, and the sausage alongside was a proper plump, savoury European banger. The roasted potato wedges and carrots were sweet and caramelised at the edges.
The second plate leaned softer and more comforting: a creamy risotto, some lightly cooked greens, and golden fries. A nice mix of grilled, starchy and vegetable.
It is not fine dining, but it is good, fresh, generous food, the reliable sort of stop on a travel day. The bill was very Swiss (this would be much cheaper back home), but that is simply the cost of eating in Switzerland.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Juicy rotisserie chicken, a good sausage and comforting sides, fresh and filling. Would re-visit on the road.
