Bought moscato (€2.99) at the nearby supermarket!

A bottle of Torrevilla Moscato from an Italian supermarket for €2.99: a sweet, lightly sparkling white to enjoy back at the hotel.

Bought moscato (€2.99) at the nearby supermarket!

One of the simple joys of travelling in Italy: ducking into the supermarket near the hotel and grabbing a bottle of moscato for €2.99 (around SGD$4.65). 🍷

What we got:

Back home a bottle like this would cost several times as much, so picking one up for under three euros felt almost too easy. We brought it back to the room to enjoy over the evening, which is half the fun of a trip: no restaurant markup, just a relaxed drink in your own time.

Moscato is made from the aromatic Muscat grape, and it is the easy-drinking, crowd-pleasing style of wine. This one was sweet and floral with a soft frizzante fizz and a gentle, low-alcohol lightness, all grapey, peachy aromatics. It is not a serious, contemplative wine, and that is exactly the point: it is cheerful, refreshing and goes down like a treat, perfect for unwinding after a day of walking around.

A lovely little reminder that in a wine country, even the supermarket bottle can be a delight.

Overall: 4.7 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Sweet, fizzy, floral moscato for a few euros, a holiday bargain. Would stock up again.
