Cantonese roast meat dinner ($41.67)!

Halfway through the week called for a treat, so BB and I shared a Cantonese roast meat dinner: $41.67 for the spread. ๐Ÿ˜‹

What we had:

The roast meats stole the show. The char siu came lacquered and glossy, deep red with caramelised, slightly charred edges and a good fat-to-lean ratio, sweet and smoky. Beside it, the roast pork belly (siu yuk) had that crackly, crisp skin on top giving way to juicy fat and tender meat underneath, the audible crunch you want from good siu yuk.

We got two different noodle styles to share. The wanton noodles were the springy, savoury one, thin egg noodles tossed dry in a light sauce with a stalk of greens. The crispy pan-fried noodles were the fun contrast, fried into a crunchy golden raft that softens as it sits, all crispy edges and chew.

Two clear soups rounded it out. A satisfying, well-rounded roast meat dinner that hit exactly the right mid-week note.

Overall: 4.6 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Glossy char siu and crackly siu yuk with two contrasting noodle styles. Would re-visit.
