Friday Switzerland — cherry cake + chai latte + black coffee CHF 14.70. Swiss cafe afternoon.

Cherry cake; Chai latte; Black coffee (CHF 14.70)!

A cafe break on our Switzerland trip: cherry cake + chai latte + black coffee, CHF 14.70 (~SGD$20). ☕😋

A welcome sit-down rest mid-sightseeing, with a slice of cake and two warm drinks.

The cherry cake was the local treat to try, a Black Forest-style cherry torte: layers of sponge with cherries and cream (the kind of Central European classic this region is famous for). Fruity, creamy and not too heavy, it’s a lovely pairing with coffee.

For drinks, BB had the black coffee, clean and no-fuss, while I went for the chai latte, black tea brewed with warm spices (cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger) and steamed milk, cosy and aromatic, exactly what you want on a cool Swiss afternoon.

Switzerland has a reputation for being eye-wateringly expensive, and dinners certainly are, but a cafe stop like this (cake plus two drinks for around SGD$20) felt comparatively reasonable, and far more relaxing than a rushed restaurant meal. Sometimes the best part of travelling is just slowing down with a coffee and watching the world go by.

Overall: 4.7 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A fruity-creamy cherry cake with a cosy chai latte and a clean black coffee, a lovely Swiss cafe rest. Would do it again on travels.
