A specialty cafe afternoon with BB: chai latte + long black + Earl Grey donut, $10.90. ☕😋
What we ordered ($10.90 total):
- A chai latte.
- A long black.
- An Earl Grey donut.
The two drinks cover both ends of the coffee-and-tea spectrum. The chai latte is the cosy one, black tea brewed with warm whole spices (cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger) and steamed milk, sweet and aromatic. The long black is the purist’s coffee, a double shot of espresso pulled over hot water so it keeps the crema and a clean, concentrated bite, BB’s order while I went for the spiced tea.
The Earl Grey donut was the fun part: a soft donut carrying the floral, bergamot-citrus fragrance of Earl Grey tea (in the glaze and the dough), a clever tea-meets-dessert mash-up that’s less sugary than a regular glazed donut. It paired especially well with the long black, the slight bitterness of the coffee against the perfumed sweetness of the donut.
At $10.90 for two drinks and a donut, it was an easy, comforting weekend cafe stop.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A cosy chai latte, a clean long black and a fragrant Earl Grey donut, a lovely little cafe spread. Would re-visit.
