The fun of a place like Sweet Cheeks is the inventive flavours, and we made sure to spread them out. The coconut mango was the bright, sunny scoop, creamy coconut against sweet, tangy mango, exactly the tropical combination that works so well in this heat.
The dark chocolate was the grown-up one: rich, intense and almost bittersweet, the kind of proper chocolate scoop that satisfies a serious cocoa craving rather than just tasting sugary.
The honey chrysanthemum was the surprise and the talking point. Turning that floral, faintly honeyed chrysanthemum-tea flavour into ice cream sounds odd, but it worked, gentle, fragrant and soothing, like a cooling cup of chrysanthemum tea in frozen form. A clever, very local twist.
Three very different scoops, from tropical to chocolatey to floral, all handmade and full of flavour. A fun way to sample across the board.
