What we had:
- Two cups of gelato: pistachio and strawberry in one, hazelnut and pecan in the other
Getting four flavours is the fun way to test a gelato shop, and Dopa Dopa scoops it dense and smooth in that proper artisan way. We loaded up on the nutty ones, which is where a good gelateria really shows off.
The pistachio was the highlight: that natural pale-green colour, deep, roasted-nut flavour and a faint savoury edge against the sweet cream. The hazelnut was warm and toasty, fragrant in that unmistakable way, and the pecan was the buttery, slightly caramel-ish one, less common and a nice surprise.
The strawberry was the bright, fruity palate-cleanser of the four, clean and a touch tart against all that richness.
Spooning between the cups, sharing and comparing, made for a lovely little indulgence. At $9 for four scoops on the deal (it would be a fair bit more at full price), it was great value, and exactly the small treat to break up the week.
Overall: 4.6 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Four dense, flavour-packed scoops led by a lovely nutty pistachio, great value on the deal. Would re-visit.
