What we had:
- Pocky x Ya Kun Kaya Toast flavour, a Singapore-exclusive collab between Glico and Ya Kun Kaya Toast
This is exactly the kind of limited-edition local flavour that is impossible to walk past. It is a tie-up between Pocky and Ya Kun, the famous kaya toast coffeeshop, with a cute box showing the classic kaya toast and kopi cup. The biscuit sticks come in that pale green pandan colour, hinting at the kaya.
And it really does taste like kaya. The cream coating has that sweet, coconutty, pandan-scented kaya flavour, with a faintly toasty, buttery note that nods to the toast itself. Snapping the slim sticks and eating a few at a time, it is moreish in the way Pocky always is, but with a nostalgic Singapore-breakfast twist that makes it more fun than the standard chocolate.
It is a clever, very local snack, the sort of thing that is great to share or to bring along as a quirky little gift. At $2 a box it is an easy, cheerful buy when you spot it.
Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Pocky sticks that genuinely taste of sweet, pandan-y kaya toast, a fun local twist. Would re-buy.
