Sunday's brunch ($66.50)!
A leisurely Sunday cafe brunch: a big breakfast plate, a mentaiko pasta with onsen egg, coffee, and a pair of unicorn cakes. $66.50.
A proper lazy Sunday brunch with BB, the kind you linger over for a couple of hours: $66.50 for the spread. π
What we had:
- A big breakfast plate: creamy scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, sautΓ©ed mushrooms, a croissant and salad
- A mentaiko pasta topped with nori and a soft onsen egg
- A mocha with latte art
- A pair of unicorn cakes for dessert
The big breakfast was everything you want from a weekend cafe plate: soft, buttery scrambled eggs, savoury sausages and crispy bacon, earthy mushrooms, a flaky croissant and a handful of greens to lighten it. Comforting and generous.
The mentaiko pasta was the more interesting plate, and a favourite of mine. Springy noodles coated in a creamy, savoury sauce of mentaiko (spicy cod roe), topped with shredded nori and a soft onsen egg you break and stir through for extra richness. Properly moreish.
Then the fun part: two little unicorn cakes, all white frosting with a golden horn, ears and sleepy painted eyes. As cute as they were tasty, and a sweet, playful way to end the meal.
A relaxed, indulgent brunch with a savoury, a pasta, good coffee and adorable cakes. At about $33 each it was a treat, but exactly the unhurried Sunday we wanted.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. πππΌ A hearty big breakfast, a creamy mentaiko pasta and cute unicorn cakes, a lovely lazy brunch. Would re-visit.
