Maddie's Kitchen!

First visit to Maddie's Kitchen at Far East Plaza: seafood hor fun ($8.80) and prawn roll ($6.80). Yummy zi char, a tad pricey. Would revisit.

Maddie's Kitchen!

First-time visit to Maddie’s Kitchen! The eatery wasn’t that crowded on a weekday evening when we went over for dinner. 😋

Maddie’s Kitchen is a zi char (煮炒) spot tucked in Far East Plaza, the kind of casual Chinese stir-fry eatery doing wok dishes and sharing plates in a mall setting rather than the usual coffeeshop.

The menu:

Seafood hor fun ($8.80), the wide flat rice noodles in an egg-thickened gravy with seafood, the wat-tan-style silky egg draping the noodles, a zi char staple done as a one-plate main.

Prawn roll ($6.80), the hae cho / prawn-and-pork rolls wrapped in beancurd skin and deep-fried, crisp on the outside with the juicy filling inside, the classic fried side.

The damage:

Yummy zi char food, though a tad bit on the pricey side for the portions, which is the Far East Plaza mall premium over a coffeeshop. Still, the cooking was solid, and we will revisit to try out the other dishes.

Address: 05-26 Far East Plaza, 14 Scotts Rd, 228213 Hours: Daily 11am-9pm

Overall: 4 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Solid zi char, the silky seafood hor fun the standout. A little pricey but would re-visit.
