Mee hoon kuey ($3)!

Easing into the week with one of our regulars: mee hoon kuey for $3. ๐Ÿ˜‹

What we had:

A Monday calls for something familiar, and this bowl is exactly that. The noodles are the heart of it, flat pieces torn by hand and cooked right in the soup, so they come out soft and slippery with that slightly chewy, uneven bite that machine noodles just cannot match.

The broth was light and clean, lifted by a good scatter of crispy fried ikan bilis (anchovies) on top, which give it that savoury, faintly sweet depth as they soak in. Through it were soft minced pork, fresh coriander and a few leafy greens, simple toppings that let the noodles and soup do the talking.

A spoon of the cut chilli on the side adds a sharp little kick when you want it. There is nothing flashy here, just honest, soothing, hand-torn-noodle comfort, and at $3 it is the kind of dependable bowl that keeps you coming back week after week.

Overall: 4.5 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Soft hand-torn noodles in a clean, anchovy-lifted broth, a comforting Monday bowl. Would re-order.
