Japanese Curry Express!

Revisit to Japanese Curry Express! Almost full house on a Saturday afternoon, always a good sign. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Japanese Curry Express is a casual Japanese spot tucked in Fortune Centre on Middle Road, the kind of unassuming, order-by-sheet place that the office and student crowd keep busy. Despite the name leaning on curry, the udon and maki are what we came back for.

The order sheet (tick-and-pass, the efficient Japanese-casual way):

Spider maki ($12), the soft-shell crab roll, the fried crab legs poking out of the roll like spider limbs, crunchy against the rice and seaweed.

Kitsune udon ($7), the โ€œfox udonโ€, named for the sweet inari (fried beancurd) that tops it, said to be the favourite of foxes in Japanese folklore. The beancurd soaks up the dashi broth, sweet against the savoury soup.

Wakame udon ($6), the seaweed udon, the simplest of the three, springy udon in dashi topped with wakame, clean and comforting.

The udon had the right springy chew and the broths were clean, while the spider maki was the fun splurge of the order. We will revisit again to try out other dishes.

Address: Fortune Centre #03-04, 190 Middle Rd, 188979 Hours: Closed on Sunday. Mon-Sat 11:30am-2:30pm, 5:30-8:30pm

Overall: 4.2 / 5. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Springy udon and a fun spider maki, a reliable casual Japanese spot. Would re-visit.
