Saturday night by the river ($193)!
A Saturday night out at a Clarke Quay riverside bar: a loaded meat and fries sharing platter, fried wings, two pizzas and Corona beers. $193.
A proper Saturday night out with BB by the river, and we went big: $193 on a feast of bar food and beers, with the Clarke Quay lights on the water behind us. ๐ป
What we had:
- A loaded sharing platter: grilled meats and sausage, a mountain of fried chicken wings, fries and dips
- Extra fried wings
- Two pizzas, loaded with toppings and rocket
- Corona beers
The platter was the centrepiece and built for grazing: smoky grilled meats, plump fried wings with a sticky glaze, and a heap of fries to keep dunking into the sauces. It is the sort of thing you pick at slowly over drinks rather than rush through.
The pizzas were generously topped, blistered and cheesy with a peppery handful of rocket over the top, and easy to share between the wings and beers. And the Corona, cold with a lime, was exactly the right pour for a warm, lively riverside night.
Yes, $193 is a splurge, but that is what a special Saturday night is for: good food, cold beer, the buzz of the quay and no reason to hurry home. We made a proper evening of it.
Overall: 4.8 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ A loaded meat platter, cheesy pizzas and cold Coronas by the river, a brilliant night out. Would re-do for special occasions.
