Chicken and waffles is one of those brunch plates that just works, and this was a good one. The waffle came golden and crisp-edged with a tender middle, sitting under a piece of juicy fried chicken with a craggy, well-seasoned crust. You drizzle the maple syrup over both so you get that sweet-savoury thing in every bite, crunchy chicken, soft waffle, sticky syrup.
The sweet potato fries on the side were the smart order, sweet and a little caramelised, a nice change from regular fries. To drink, a smooth flat white with a tidy heart poured in, and a strong long black for something less milky.
It is a leisurely, indulgent sort of meal, the kind you settle into for an hour or two on a Saturday with good coffee. Not cheap, but a treat brunch should be.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Crispy fried chicken on a crisp-edged waffle with maple syrup, sweet potato fries and good coffee. Would re-visit.
