What we had:
- Tiger prawn penne: penne in a savoury tomato sauce with tiger prawns and sliced sausage
This was a hearty, generous plate. The penne, with its ridged tubes that hold sauce so well, came tossed in a rich, slightly spiced tomato sauce, cooked just past al dente so it still had a bit of bite. The sauce had a lovely savoury, garlicky depth, leaning towards that cajun-jambalaya kind of flavour.
The toppings made it: plump tiger prawns, sweet and snappy, cooked to that just-right pink without going rubbery, and rounds of sausage through it adding a smoky, meaty richness that played really well against the prawns and tomato. A few microgreens on top finished it off.
Prawns and sausage in one tomato pasta might sound like a lot, but it works, the sweet seafood and the savoury sausage balancing nicely in the tangy sauce. At $15++ (around $18 with tax) it was fair for a sit-down plate, and substantial enough to leave you full and happy. A nice Western change from the usual rotation.
Overall: 4.4 / 5. ๐๐๐ผ Ridged penne in a savoury tomato sauce with sweet tiger prawns and smoky sausage. Would re-order.
