White magic ($6.90++); Black coffee ($4.90++); Speculoos chocolate chip ($8.50++)!
Sunday cafe — white magic + black coffee + speculoos chocolate chip cookie. Specialty cafe spread.
A specialty cafe afternoon: white magic ($6.90++) + black coffee ($4.90++) + speculoos chocolate chip cookie ($8.50++). ☕😋
What we ordered (~$24 nett):
- A white magic.
- A black coffee.
- A warm speculoos chocolate chip cookie.
The white magic is the one to explain: it’s an Antipodean (Aussie/Kiwi) coffee that sits between a flat white and a cappuccino, a double ristretto under steamed milk in a smaller cup, with a velvety texture and almost no foam. The result is stronger and more coffee-forward than a latte but smoother than a cappuccino, my pick of the two. BB took the black coffee, kept small to let the bean character come through clean.
The speculoos chocolate chip cookie was the indulgent bit. Speculoos is the spiced, caramelised Belgian biscuit flavour (you’ll know it as Lotus Biscoff), all cinnamon and brown-sugar warmth, and working it into a chocolate chip cookie gives you that toffee-spice note alongside the melty chocolate. Served warm, it was gooey in the middle, exactly how a good cafe cookie should be.
A relaxed, well-made coffee-and-cookie stop, the kind of weekend cafe ritual that’s hard to beat.
Overall: 4.7 / 5. 😋👍🏼 A smooth, coffee-forward white magic, a clean black, and a warm gooey speculoos cookie. Would re-visit.
