Last night's desserts situation ($31.80)!

Saturday morning throwback to last night’s desserts situation$31.80 dessert spread to close out the TGIF dinner.

We ordered (dessert spread):

Total: $31.80 for the dessert finale.

The $31.80 dessert spread is the substantial restaurant finale. Most restaurant dinners include a single dessert as the closing course; this one had multiple plates ordered as a sharing finale across the table.

The plates probably included a chocolate-leaning dessert (cake, mousse, or molten chocolate cake), a fruit-leaning dessert (tart, sorbet, or seasonal fruit plate), and possibly a third option. Sharing dessert plates is the move when you can’t decide between menu items and you want to try multiple things.

Each plate came with the restaurant’s standard dessert architecture — proper plating, garnish, sauce drizzles, sometimes a small scoop of ice cream or sorbet on the side. The kind of dessert that you can tell took kitchen effort to assemble.

Drinks came as the after-dinner pours — coffees (specialty pour-overs or espresso-based drinks) plus a tea option. The dessert-and-coffee combination is the proper way to wind down a restaurant dinner.

$31.80 for the dessert spread on top of the $117.50 dinner bill brings the total Friday night spend to $149.30. The TGIF splurge category in our spending breakdown.

The dessert finale is the part of restaurant dining that doesn’t translate to home cooking. We can make a competent home dessert — ice cream from the freezer, a slice of cake from the bakery — but the multi-plate restaurant dessert spread with proper plating and sauce work is a different format. The format is the value.

Saturday morning recovery from the Friday night dessert spread meant a smaller home breakfast and a slower morning routine.

Phase 2 dining had its rhythm. Occasional splurges, mostly home cooking, weekend hawker stops. The pattern had stabilised across the year.

Overall: 4.4 / 5. 😋👍🏼 Strong dessert finale — would do occasionally.
