Sunday afternoon — BB and I tucked into a cafe along Holland Village for a slow break between errands. Holland V’s mid-afternoon energy is exactly right for a couple of long, hot drinks and zero rush.
We ordered:
- D’Black (signature coffee) — $7++
- Oolong tea latte — $7++
D’Black was the more interesting pour. A signature riff on a long black with a deeper bean profile — fuller body than a regular Americano, faint sweetness on the back end, and crema that actually held. Drinkable without milk, which is the test of a well-roasted bean.
The oolong tea latte was the comfort order. Toasty roasted-oolong notes coming through the steamed milk, lightly sweetened (you can ask for unsweetened), with that mid-roast character that doesn’t get muddled by the dairy. A clean alternative to the usual matcha latte default.
At $7++ each you’re in cafe-tier pricing — fair for Holland Village rents and the level of execution. The space had the right amount of buzz to feel social without being loud, with enough corners for a quiet two-hour sit if you wanted one.
