Happy Valentine's Day, BB — Flutes at the National Museum!
Valentine's Day lunch at Flutes Restaurant (National Museum of Singapore) — wagyu with truffle, a beautifully plated 'Happy Valentine's Day' dessert, and two glasses of red wine.
Happy Valentine’s Day, BB! 💝 We swapped the usual lunch for something special this year — booked the Valentine’s tasting menu at Flutes at the National Museum of Singapore. Old colonial bungalow vibes, full white tablecloth treatment, the works. 😍
The spread that unfolded:
- Two glasses of red wine to kick things off — paired beautifully with the meal.
- A starter with cute hearts of salmon roe arranged on a buttery base with a cream-yellow sauce and edible flowers.
- A seared scallop / risotto-style course sitting in a pool of green pea foam, finished with edible viola flowers and microgreens.
- A steamed white fish on sliced cucumber with herbs and shaved daikon — clean, delicate, well-balanced.
- A warm ciabatta-style roll brought between courses.
- The main: grilled wagyu beef sliced and plated with black truffle shavings, glazed mushrooms, and rounded out with edible flowers. Tender, smoky, the truffle perfume hit the table before the plate did.
- Dessert — a chocolate-script “Happy Valentine’s Day!” plate with a centrepiece of pink mousse, fresh berries, flowers, and edible gold flecks. The kind that makes you take photos before eating.
The whole meal came in around $200ish for the two of us with wine — pricey, but for Valentine’s Day, worth it.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Service was on-point, the courses well-paced, and every plate looked like a painting. Lovely way to spend the day with the BB. 🥂😍
