Mixed hor fun at a hawker stall ($5)!
Mixed hor fun in milky white gravy at a hawker stall — flat rice noodles, sliced fish, minced pork, poached egg, choy sum and crispy tempura enoki on top. $5.
Brunch fix — mixed hor fun at a hawker stall, $5. Comfort soup-noodle with the works. 😋
What was in the red bowl ($5):
- A bed of silky flat hor fun (rice noodles) in a creamy milky-white seafood gravy — properly thickened, with concentrated stock fragrance.
- A soft poached egg with a still-runny yolk sitting right in the middle.
- Slices of fresh fish and minced pork distributed through the gravy.
- A bunch of choy sum stems for the green crunch.
- A generous mound of crispy tempura enoki mushrooms on top — the standout topping, golden and shatter-crisp.
Broke the egg yolk into the gravy — turned the whole bowl into a silky, custardy noodle dish. The enoki crisp gave each bite a textural contrast.
Total: $5. Hawker pricing for a generous bowl.
Overall: 4.2 / 5. Crispy enoki was the unexpected hit — added depth and crunch. Gravy was rich without being clumpy. Reliable hor fun pick. 😍👍🏼
