Desserts at a mahjong-theme dessert place ($14.40)!
Three desserts at a mahjong-themed shop — yam orh nee, lychee dessert with sago and tapioca, mango shaved ice with cubes. $14.40 total.
Stumbled into a dessert shop with a full mahjong-tile theme — entire wall covered in mahjong tiles with a big 發 character. Had to stay and order. Three desserts later: $14.40. 😋
What was on the table ($14.40 for three):
- Yam paste / orh nee in a yellow floral bowl — smooth purple yam paste mounded on top of a creamy white base (likely gingko + coconut). Warm, fragrant, nutty.
- Lychee dessert with sago and tapioca pearls in a red-rimmed bowl — clear iced syrup with whole fresh lychees, pearl sago, large clear tapioca bubbles and a yellow rose-flavoured jelly. Refreshing, tropical, bouncy textures.
- Mango shaved ice in a blue-rimmed bowl — finely shaved ice topped with fresh mango cubes and translucent clear pearls all around the rim. Cold, juicy, simple.
Three different desserts, three different textures: smooth (yam), bouncy-icy (lychee + sago), shaved-ice (mango).
Total: $14.40. Dessert café pricing.
Overall: 4.3 / 5. Yam paste was the smoothest of the three, mango was generous with fresh fruit. Interior theme made the experience more fun than the desserts alone would have. 😍👍🏼
